What happens during my first visit?
At your first visit, you will want to arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment time. You will need to fill out some preliminary paperwork about yourself and your medical history if not done prior to your appointment. You are able to download these forms under the Patient Info tab. Your referral from your physician and insurance card will also be copied unless previously provided by your physician’s office. During your first treatment, your Physical Therapist will discuss your medical history with you as well as treatment recommendations and goals. The initial evaluation will take approximately 60-90 minutes during which time you will be treated by your Physical Therapist and a plan of care will be developed.
What should I wear or bring with me?
Wear loose fitting clothing that will allow for the area needing treatment to be easily accessed and provide comfortable range of motion.
How long will my Physical Therapy session take?
Your treatments will consist of your treatment time and exercise time. Each can last up to 30 minutes, so plan for 1-1 ½ hours. Each treatment regimen is individualized so treatment time may vary.
How many visits will I need?
The amount of visits can vary based on injury or rehabilitation required. Ongoing assessments will be done to provide you feedback and input as to your progress as well as your physician to determine what length of treatment you will need.
Who will treat me?
You will have one Physical Therapist providing primary treatment and overseeing your care. Assistive staff of Certified Athletic Trainers, Technicians, and Exercise Physiologists is on staff at Swing Physical Therapy to help assist and provide care during your treatment.
Is Physical Therapy painful?
Physical Therapy is designed to utilize a variety of treatment modalities to help relieve symptoms and maximize function. Treatments may consist of hands on manual therapy, dry needling, grade IV laser, electrical stimulation as well as hot and cold therapies. Of course, at times therapy can be painful, especially when dealing with certain diagnosis. Your therapist and staff will work to optimize your outcomes while communicating with you regarding the discomfort you are feeling and work to find a balance that provides you with the best outcomes. It is important that you communicate what you are feeling during your treatments in regards to pain level, intensity and location.
What type of treatments will I receive?

What happens if my pain or problem returns?
Flare-ups are not uncommon and problems can be chronic. If your problems recur, contact us to discuss your situation and we can evaluate the need for a visit to your physician’s offices, suggest new exercises or recommend you return for further therapy.
How do I choose a Physical Therapy clinic?
Many factors may weigh in your decision on where to pursue your physical therapy. Below are a few things you should look for in any Physical Therapy clinics you attend.
- Licensed Physical Therapist
- Initial evaluation and discussion of medical history by a Physical Therapist
- They provide the service that can address your problem
- The clinic accepts your insurance or willing to work with you in the case they are not a preferred provider.
- Conveniently located, since you most likely will need more that one treatment session.
Is my Physical Therapist licensed?
The state and appropriate board license all of our Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers. Some of our staff also holds advanced certifications to better assist your needs.
How is treatment paid for?
There are a variety of payment options available. For patients wishing to utilize their insurance carrier we will bill the carrier directly. You may be responsible for a copay or deductible of which you will be informed during your initial visit. Your insurance carrier will supply you with an explanation of benefits and notify you what payments you are responsible for. Patients may want to consult their carrier prior to therapy so they are fully aware of the costs they will be responsible for. For out of network patients, please consult with us and your insurance carrier so we can provide you the most accurate information regarding you costs. Are there childcare options available at your facility?
Yes, there is childcare available for a nominal fee located within the facility that the clinic is located. All staff at the childcare facility are trained and certified to take care of your children.
